Local Disaster Coordination Centre, Gympie

Carfax carried out the refurbishment and fit out of the “Old Bank Building” for Gympie Council’s new Local Disaster Coordination Centre (LDCC).

The Old Bank Building is a state heritage listed building that required consultation with the project architect and heritage architect throughout construction.

The project consisted of:

  • upgrading the electrical and HVAC systems,
  • installing a new glazed wall to create multiple work zones,
  • acoustic treatments to external windows,
  • internal painting to match the building’s original paint colours,
  • new floor coverings and
  • a new PWD bathroom

Carfax managed the design and construction of the new glazed wall, which involved working closely with sub-contractors and facade engineers to ensure the glazing installation met the heritage constraints and the engineer’s requirements.
